From Friday to Monday, a group of 50 visual-art galleries and seven non-profits around town will roll out the welcome mat for the first New York Gallery Week, with an emphasis on extended hours and new programming. Guided art tours, discussions, book signings and musical performances are all on tap. Galleries are encouraging local artists whom they represent to be present. There’s even a free brunch Sunday at the non-profit White Columns gallery.
