“It’s not so much that I want [art] to be smart, it’s that I need [art] to be smart … Dumb and beautiful is not something I mind so much in people, but … “
—Ed Winkleman on badatsports.com
Listen to gallerist and arts blogger Edward Winkleman utter these words and more, in his delightful and thought-provoking interview on badatsports.com. I don’t usually like listening to radio interviews on the computer because I always get distracted, inevitably start researching something they bring up in the interview and have to restart thirty times (such is the state of my internet-addled brain)…but Ed has a soothing voice and compelling arguments, so I was able to stick it out all the way to the end. If you don’t have the patience/discipline required for the interview, his blog is extremely well done with a lot of good advice for young and emerging artists.
