Paho Mann (a 20x200 artist!) created this 40,000 image photo mosaic based on Gursky’s infamous 99 Cent. Seurat to the Future, if you will.

He writes:

Each one of these photo mosaics was created by mapping tens of thousands of small photographs on top of a source image using free open source software. The small photographs were downloaded from google image searches using keywords chosen for their relationship to the source image.

The hardest thing I did this week was edit down these pictures to just enough for a product post. The combination of Gigi’s headbands, Jamie’s photography skills, and Courtney’s looks meant every single shot in this set turned out silly, silly gorgeous.

I would like to frame this picture. And not just because Courtney (more on her tomorrow) looks like a character from A Midsummer Night’s Dream but also because there is something about this Gigi Burris headband is just so damn gripping. Is it the grosgrain? The leather? The feathers? I’m pretty sure it’s all three. —erica

I left my job at Theatre Communications Group at the end of July 2010 to focus on Of a Kind full time. One large Shiatzy Chen shopping bag full of miscellany cleared out from my cubicle (all of which I deemed worthy of holding onto) never came home with me, and my good friend Sarah was kind enough to store it under her desk with the understanding that I’d someday come by to retrieve it. Now, 9 months later, Sarah is also leaving TCG, and so this afternoon the bag was returned to me out of necessity.

“My mom taught me not to mess around when it comes to eyebrows. In high school I got too tweezer-happy one day and she was really, really upset. She marched me over to the apartment of a woman she knew who was a makeup artist, where I was subjected to a really intense one-on-one tutorial and walked out with my very own eyebrow pencil to correct the mess I had made. Did you know you should always use eyebrow pencils a shade lighter than your hair? I’m obsessed with #02 from Paul & Joe Beaute, which was introduced to me by Sania Vucetaj, who is the only person allowed to touch my brows these days. Here’s something else I want to say: I feel ridiculously, out of this world, beyond grateful to work with these people. Their brains, work ethic, and sense of humor blow my goddamn mind. They’re also complete lunatics, which helps me feel more comfortable in the work environment.

Erica and I made a joke about how I’m going to wear this thing every damn day completely independently of each other. Girl, you know it’s true. I have such issues when I find clothing I like that’s comfy. I delude myself into thinking nobody will notice I’ve been wearing the same thing for a week straight. Over the winter it was thick leggings, and for spring and summer it’s going to be this thing.

When Claire put on the deep green tunic that Toujours Toi Family Affairs made for Of a Kind, we were pretty sure we could book her a gig at the Hollywood Bowl on the spot. The breezy little thing looks as good belted with tights as it does worn loose with a wedge.
